Kyai Jegod
Once upon a time, there was a king who ruled Mataram Kingdom. His name was Amangkurat IV. He was the grandfather of Sultan. He often meditated in a nearby forest, called Garjitawati.
One day, when a gardener was gathering grass for his cattle in the forest, he looked for some water because it was so hot. He found a small pond and when he was going to drink some water from it, a dragon came out of the under-water, but it was so friendly to him. The dragon said that if Sultan wanted to build his palace, it was supposed to be located in that forest. Then it disappeared.
The Sultan started to build the palace in that forest. He demanded strong and old woods and the forest where those woods lied was said to be home of genies and spirits. His lumberjacks could not find anything to eat and the only thing they could have were some rice and water for three days, or sometimes they could not have anything.
The Sultan ordered that the main pole in the palace's hall had to be built from special wood, which would give strong impression. One night, a servant who was sleeping in the forest heard loud and deep voice. The voice introduced itself as Kyai Jegod. The servant saw Kyai Jegod was an old, tall, and massive tree. He said that he would voluntarily let himself be cut to make the main pole so that he could stay inside it forever.
The servant told it to Sultan and Sultan let Kyai Jegod stay inside it forever, while Kyai Jegod became the protector of that palace since then.

Rubberwood

Level: English for Junior and Senior High School
24-hours online learning

Report Text
Read the text below attentively!
What is Rubberwood?
Rubberwood is the standard common name for the timber of Hevea Brasiliensis. Rubberwood (also called Parawood in Thailand) is one of the more durable lumbers (wood) used in the manufacturing of today’s home furnishings. Rubberwood has very little shrinkage, making it one of the more stable construction materials available for furniture manufacturing. Rubberwood has very little tendency to warp or crack.
Like maple, rubberwood is a sap producing species. In the case of maple, it is sap; in the case of rubberwood, it is latex. Rubberwood produces all the latex used in the world for all rubber based products.
There is one more important feature of rubberwood that is very important in today’s world. Rubberwood is the most ecologically friendly lumber used in today’s furniture industry. After the economic life of the rubber tree, which is generally 26 – 30 years, the latex yields become extremely low and the planters then fell the rubber trees and plant new ones. So, unlike other woods that are cut down for the sole purpose of producing furniture, rubberwood is used only after it completes its latex producing cycle and dies. This wood is therefore eco-friendly in the sense that we are now using what was going as waste.

Fireflies

Level: English for Junior and Senior High School
24-hours online learning

Report Text
Read the text below attentively!
Fireflies
Fireflies are just name. They are actually very cool insects. And they are not even flies, they are beetles. They have a way of sending out light signals every now and then. If you see them at night on a tree, you might think it is a brightly lit Christmas tree. This is the kind of light these fireflies produce.
Fireflies have transparent abdomen. There are cells of crystals or chemical substances inside it which get broken down by enzymes. Some energy is released in the form of light. However, the light they send out does not have heat. The light is cold.
The fireflies send out light signals at fixed intervals. And the purpose behind it is to attract beetles for mating. But one firefly's signal is different from another, depending on its sex and the type of family it belongs to. If a firefly sends a signal at a fixed interval but gets a response either too soon or too late, it will ignore the signal. It is like a perfect dance sequence. If you are faster or slower than your partner, the dance fails.

Tips of Improving Your Vocabulary

For someone who learns English as a foreign language or as a second language, the mastery of vocabulary plays an important role beside the other components that should be mastered in learning a foreign language. It can rationally support a foreign language learner to comprehend texts, articles, or essays written in the foreign language. By mastering the vocabulary, learners can easily express ideas or feelings using the language they learn fluently. In doing an English examination, it also helps learners catch the meaning of the questions so they can automatically give the answer in a right way. Thus, increasing vocabulary is a must for English language learners to do if they want to be successful in learning it.

There are some ways that learners can do to improve their vocabulary. Some tips that will be elaborated here are taken from the article presented by eHow Education Editor. The article provides some valuable tips for English learners in order to be able to develop their vocabulary. The following are the steps you can perform:
  1. Read books, magazines, poems, plays, stories, and more. The more language you are exposed to, the more new words you will learn.
  2. Make it a habit to find a new word everyday. You can look in the dictionary or make swapping new words as game with a workmate or fellow student.
  3. Speak to people. You will be exposed to an amazing range of cultural influences and occupations, all which will introduce you to new words.
  4. Write down words you do not know. Keep a pad in your briefcase or purse jut for that purpose.
  5. Look up the words in a dictionary so you will understand what they mean, how they are spelled and their various usages. They will also help you remember the words.
  6. Make flashcards of the words and go through them regularly.
  7. Create or play word games. Scrabble, for example, is great way to reinforce new vocabulary words.
Finally, the seven steps above are hopefully able to aid foreign language learners in the effort of increasing their vocabulary. Just do the tips and see what happens to your English vocabulary.

The Canal of English Materials

It is generally accepted as a place for the learners in our educational institution to search, find, and download the materials which they must learn and master in one semester. This blog, therefore, provides the materials and the students' worksheets. The uploaded materials here are systematically arranged in line with the 2006 Indonesian curriculum and the syllabus. After the students find the materials they need, it is expected that they can first prepare and learn them at home with anyone who has the competence in English. So, when they listen to and pay attention to the teacher's explanation related to the materials in the classroom, they can easily catch and understand the materials. In addition to it, they will be able to do the tasks related to the materials easily when the teacher gives them some exercise. Besides the materials and the worksheets, it also contains some daily tasks, the samples of daily examination, the mid and final semester tests from the previous years as references because our institution always arranges them to check or to know the students' progress and achievement.

The result of the evaluation will also be displayed in this page. It consists of the score list of the daily examination including the average score, the mid and final semester tests. It is done in order to make the students easy to access and know the result of the test they took. They can also measure the competence they have achieved. So, they will be a motivated student who always wants to increase and make their way of studying better than before.

For parents who are willing to know their boys' and girls' progress, they can also access and see the final score that will be written or reported in the students' achievement report book (given by our institution at the end of the semester). By doing this, parents are expected to be able to lead, motivate, and encourage their children to get better achievement for the next semester.

At last but not least, whether it is realized or not, to make the students successful becomes our responsibility. So, it requires the cooperation among parents, environment, and teachers at school. Without it, your dream of making your children reach the top achievement and the brighter future is just a dream and a dream.
