Recount Text 2 for Grade 8 Semester 2

Level: English for Junior High School
24-hours online learning

Text 1
Celebrating The Earth Day
Some weeks ago, in celebrating the earth day, our school had an excursion to Maron beach. Five big buses were ready to take all of us. We left the school at six thirty. We brought brooms, big plastic bags, and other cleaning utensils. We wore wide hats, long sleeved T-shirt, and gloves to protect our body from the sun.
We arrived at the beach after a fifty-five minutes drive. The beach was so dirty. Garbage was everywhere. It was not beautiful at all. We looked at the beach sadly. We were all very sorry about this view.
Mrs. Marwati told us to get off the bus and start our program right away. We did the cleaning up immediately. We picked up the garbage and brought them into the dumping ground.
We were very happy to see the beach clean. The beach is beautiful again now.

Visiting Uncle in Jepara
Maya intended to visit her uncle, Budi, her aunt, Dewi and her cousin, Murni in Jepara. They live there. She went to Tanah Abang bus station. She looked around as she walked into the station. There were a lot of passengers there. Some of them just sat and the others stood and talked with their friends. Maya bought a cup of tea and piece of cake. Then, she found an empty seat beside some girls. It was a coincidence that one of them was Rani. Maya’s friend when they were in Junior High School. She asked Maya where she studied. She said she studied at the English Department in a university. A conversation started and the time passed quickly. Suddenly, Maya looked at her watch. “Oh dear!” she said. “I forgot about the time and now I missed the bus.”

Recount Text 1 for Grade 8 Semester 2

Level: English for Junior High School
24-hours online learning

Text 1
Having a Stomachache
I had a really bad experience last Tuesday. That evening, I saw some mangoes on the table. I was happy because I really like the fruit. I peeled one and ate greedily. I peeled another two. My mother had advised me not to do so, but I said that I would be just fine.
The next morning, I went to school. The first class was Math and I had a test. During the test, I suddenly felt my stomachache. I tried to control and finished my test. However, I could not. I had to go to the toilet. I went there three times. Because of my awkward behavior, my teacher thought I had been cheating. I explained what happened. He understood.
However, the test time was almost over and certainly I could not finish it. Luckily, the teacher understood and gave me a chance to do a remedial test the following day. Oh, what a pity! I felt regretful, not listening to my mother's advice.

Last holiday, I and my classmate had an exciting tour. We went to Jogjakarta and Central Java. We departed from Jakarta on Saturday morning. We arrived in Jogjakarta in the evening. We stayed in Garuda hotel there. Because we were very tired, after traveling a whole day, we just took a rest in the hotel that night.

We spent the whole afternoon there, admiring the magnificent temple. We bought some handicrafts. Then we returned to Jogjakarta. Before coming back to the hotel, we stopped by the Malioboro Street Market to buy some souvenirs.
On Monday morning, we checked out from the hotel and went back to Jakarta. On the way home, we came by Jati Jajar Cave. We arrived in Jakarta late at night. Although we were very exhausted, we were very happy because we enjoyed the journey and got many experience.

My Sister First Flight
I took my sister, Katy, for her first flight last month. When we arrived at the airport, she wanted to know why the official weighed the luggage. Then she wondered why she needed a passport. She didn't understand what the security check for. Then she asked who the flight attendant was. When she saw the plane, she couldn't understand what the captain did and where he sat.
What a lot of questions! I was very pleased when we landed.

Recount Text: Flood in Purwodadi and Having Stomachache

Level: English for Junior High School
24-hours online learning

Example of Recount Text 1
Flood in Purwodadi
It was still raining when I was home. The rain did not stop and became bigger when the night had come. People were standing in front of their house, hoping that the flood would not come. In the middle of the night, I got news that south Purwodadi had been drowned.
The next day, Purwodadi had become a flood area. All activities were paralyzed. No one went for work or school because the land had been covered by flood. However, I thanked God for not allowing the flood enter my house. Even my house had been changed into an emergency kitchen. It was so crowded there. My father and I took a walk around the center market and central Purwodadi. All that we could see was water and water. At night, the flood looked like a beautiful ocean with moonlight on it. I felt as if I was one of the passenger of Titanic who was sailing on the sea.
Finally, the flood was starting to decrease in the next morning. My family and I cleaned our front yard together. That was the greatest flood that I had ever experienced in my hometown.

My Flight

Level: English for Junior and Senior High School
24-hours online learning
My Flight
I had booked my flight over the telephone, so I had to rush to the reservation desk to pay my ticket. The woman at the desk told me that my name was not on the passenger list. It took fifteen minutes for her to realize that she had spelled my name incorrectly. She gave me my ticket and told me I'd better check in my luggage quickly or I'd miss my flight.
I was the last person to get on the plane. I found my seat and discovered that I was sitting next to a four-years old boy who had a cold. I sat down and wondered if anything else could go wrong. I hate flying, especially take-off, but the plane took off and everything seemed to be all right.
Then, a few minutes later, there was a funny noise and everything started to shake. I looked out of the window, and oh my God, there was smoke coming out of the wing. Well, you can imagine how frightened I was, but the crew were fantastic. The flight attendants were really calm and told us not to worry. One of them told me to relax and said that everything would be all right.
A few minutes later, we were coming to land. The pilot made a perfect landing on the runway. It was over. We were safe. That day I decided not to fly anymore. I caught another taxi and went home. But as I closed the front door, I looked down at my case. Somehow I had picked up the wrong suitcase.

The Clever Servant
This is an old story. It was first told long ago. A rich man wanted to make a journey to another town. He was a businessman. He wanted to take things to sell. He also wanted to take gold to buy things with. He decided to take ten servants with him. They would carry the things to sell and the gold, and also food to eat on the journey.
He was a kind man. He said to one of his servants, "You are the smallest, the thinnest and the weakest of all my servants. You cannot carry a heavy load. You must choose the lightest load to carry."
The servant thanked his master for his kindness. He pointed to the biggest load. This was bread to eat on the journey.
His master said, "You are foolish. That is the biggest and heaviest load." But the servant picked up the load cheerfully and the journey began. They walked for four hours. Then, they stopped for a rest. They all ate some of the bread. There was less bread for the servant to carry. The servant's load grew smaller and lighter every day. At the end of the journey, the servant had nothing to carry.
